Long-Term Capability Preservation Lens

Description

The sixth evaluative lens the paper adds beyond its five-value framework (Authority, Safety, Reliability, Capability, Adaptability). Treated as an analytical lens rather than a co-equal design value because it is not prominently reflected as a design driver in Claude Code's architecture or Anthropic's stated values. Motivated by external evidence: developers in AI-assisted conditions scoring lower on comprehension tests, 40.7% code-complexity increase in Cursor-adopting repositories (He et al., 2025), 19%-slower measured productivity despite perceived speedup (Becker et al., 2025), weakened EEG-measured neural connectivity persisting after AI removal (Kosmyna et al., 2025), and 25% decline in entry-level tech hiring 2023-2024.
